Book Exchange - A Community Led Initiative
On September 16, 2022, I was honored to present as a guest speaker at the Community Book Exchange Program – A Community Led Initiative, organized by the Nepalese Canadian Society of Edmonton (NECASE).
During the event, alongside Dr. Deepesh Shrestha, we discussed the importance of providing access to books and resources in diasporic communities. I shared my experience developing the Community Book Exchange platform and highlighted its role in fostering cultural preservation and knowledge sharing.
This initiative reflects a collaborative effort aimed at making rare language resources more accessible and sustainable.

Over the course of three years, I contributed more than 270 hours to the Community Book Exchange Program, an initiative aimed at promoting access to books within the community.
Working with Dr. Deepesh Shrestha from the University of Alberta, we have developed a comprehensive online platform. This platform, built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, and PHP, is backed by a MySQL database for managing user and book data.
Users can search for books, request borrowing, and track lending activities, making it easier to share resources within the community. This platform stands as a testament to the power of technology in fostering collaboration and preserving cultural resources.

In 2024, I completed the Leaders in Training program at the TELUS World of Science – Edmonton during their Science Summer Camps. As part of this volunteer experience, I assisted camp instructors, supported young participants in science activities, and helped create a fun and educational environment. This role gave me the opportunity to develop leadership and teamwork skills while sharing my interest in science.
